Published:

Auburn’s defensive line depth could soon be taking a hit as freshman defensive lineman Reece Mullins has reportedly entered the NCAA transfer portal.

This news was first reported by 247Sports.

Mullins is a walk-on player at Auburn but did see the field in his first season with the Tigers as he played against Kent State.

Auburn signed Mullins out of Marietta, Ga., where he was defensive player of the year for Coach Tab Griffin at Pope High, according to his Auburn bio page.

The lineman also has family ties to the NFL as his great-uncles played for the New York Giants and the New York Jets.

Of course, Mullins could return to Auburn at some point. Entering the NCAA transfer portal does not guarantee a player cannot return to his team. Entering the portal simply allows for other programs to contact players regarding a potential transfer.
