The Notre Dame offensive line is one of the most talented offensive lines in the entire country, so the fact that LSU could be without as many as three of its top linebackers and pass rushers is a concerning sign heading into the Citrus Bowl.
On Tuesday, Ross Dellenger of The Advocate reported that two linebackers — seniors Donnie Alexander and Corey Thompson — would be held out of the bowl game, while star LB/DE Arden Key’s status is still up in the air:
Corey Thompson and Donnie Alexander are expected to miss the Jan. 1 game in Orlando, multiple sources confirmed to The Advocate, ending the careers of the senior duo.
Both Thompson and Alexander are starters, with Thompson recording six sacks this year, tied for second-most on the Tigers.
Alexander, meanwhile, dealt with injuries all year, but managed to make 51 tackles and force a fumble.
The Tigers are dropping like flies defensively, so the offense is going to have to carry a bigger load on New Year’s Day in Orlando.
