Alabama lost a member of its top-ranked 2019 recruiting class Wednesday.

According to Chad Simmons of Rivals.com, defensive lineman Rashad Cheney has withdrawn his commitment from the Crimson Tide.

The 6-foot-2, 270-pounder out of Cedar Grove High School in Ellenwood, Georgia, is pegged as a 4-star prospect by 247Sports.com’s composite ratings. Cheney, who originally committed to Alabama in April, is considered the 22nd-best defensive tackle and the 39th overall prospect from Georgia in this year’s recruiting class.

According to his profile on Rivals.com, Cheney is interested in several SEC schools including Auburn, Florida, Georgia and LSU.

The Crimson Tide’s 2019 recruiting class dropped to 21 players after Cheney’s decommitment, but Alabama still boasts the top-ranked group in the nation. Considering how well Alabama recruits under Nick Saban, it’s safe to assume the program will find someone to fill Cheney’s spot.
