Nick Saban has another spot to fill on his coaching staff.

Multiple outlets are reporting that Alabama cornerbacks coach Karl Scott is leaving UA to be the defensive backs coach for the Minnesota Vikings. AL.com’s Matt Zenitz was the first to report the news.

Scott’s replacement will have big shoes to fill on the recruiting trail. 247Sports’ recruiter rankings for the 2021 cycle have Scott at No. 2 in the nation, behind only former Alabama running backs coach Charles Huff. The site credits Scotts as involved in the recruitment of eight Crimson Tide commitments, including the primary recruiter for 5-star OT Tommy Brockermeyer and 5-star CB Ga’Quincy McKinstry.

A native of  Houston, Texas, Scott arrived at Alabama in 2018, coming over from Texas Tech.

Scott would be the fifth on-field assistant to leave Alabama this offseason, following offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian, offensive line coach Kyle Flood, special teams coordinator/tight ends coach Jeff Banks and running backs coach Charles Huff. Sarkisian became the head coach at Texas and hired Flood and Banks to his Longhorns staff. Huff accepted the head coaching job at Marshall.
