Alabama has been besieged by injuries this season, and one more surfaced as the team prepared for the Sugar Bowl matchup against Clemson.
Cornerback Anthony Averett suffered a sprained ankle while stepping off the team bus, according to multiple reports. But Matt Zenitz of AL.com reported that Averett should be able to play tonight.
Injuries, especially to linebackers, have been a main storyline for the Crimson Tide this season, so this is not ideal news. The senior has 40 tackles and seven pass breakups this season with an interception.
Alabama and Clemson are set to kickoff at 8:45 p.m. Eastern on ESPN.
Rece Davis just said on College GameDay that #Alabama CB Anthony Averett stepped into a hole getting off the bus in New Orleans and sprained his ankle.
“They hope he’s going to be OK.”
