It looks like Nick Saban will have another staff spot to fill as turnover continues at Alabama.
Alabama director of player personnel Jody Wright is expected to be hired by UAB as offensive line coach, run-game coordinator and assistant head coach, according to a report by AL.com’s Matt Zenitz.
For Wright, he’ll be returning to a familiar role. Prior to being hired by Alabama in 2015 for the director of player personnel position, Wright was assistant head coach, running backs coach and recruiting coordinator at UAB from 2014. Wright reunites with UAB coach Bill Clark, whom he worked with at Jacksonville State (2013) and UAB (2014). The UAB football program returned in the 2017 season after a two-year hiatus.
As director of player personnel, Wright played a key role in the Crimson Tide’s recruiting efforts through scouting and individual player evaluations.
Fortunately for Saban, Alabama tends to have one of the deepest staffs in college football and no trouble filling off-field positions.
