A familiar face looks to be returning to Tuscaloosa as Joe Pannunzio will reportedly be named Alabama’s special teams coordinator and tight ends coach. This hiring would make for a return to Alabama for Pannunzio after his short stint as Director of Personnel Operations with the Philadelphia Eagles.

Pannunzio served as Director of Football Operations for Alabama before landing the job with the Eagles. Pannunzio has a long history of coaching special teams and tight ends at the collegiate level, as he has served in either role on and off since 1985.

News of Pannunzio’s hire comes via Matt Zenitz of AL.com.

Last season Mario Cristobal served as Alabama’s tight ends coach but he has since left to join Oregon’s football program.
