It was speculated that Alabama offensive analyst Major Applewhite would follow Butch Jones to Arkansas State after Jones landed the head coaching gig in Jonesboro.
However, it appears Applewhite will instead be heading to a different FBS program.
Per Yahoo’s Pete Thamel, Applewhite has agreed to be the new offensive coordinator for the South Alabama Jaguars:

The Jaguars play in the Sun Belt Conference. They recently hired Kane Wommack as their new head coach after parting ways with Steve Campbell. The Jaguars finished the 2020 season with a record of 4-7.
Applewhite was the Houston head coach from 2016 to 2018. He has been on Alabama’s staff the past 2 seasons.
