Alabama star WR Calvin Ridley is leaving for the NFL Draft, according to a report by AL.com.
This is certainly not surprising news, as Ridley will likely be a first-round pick. He could even be a top 10 caliber pick, possessing speed, great hands and excellent route-running ability.
Ridley tallied 224 catches for 2,781 yards and 19 TDs during his three-year career. Specifically in 2017’s National Championship season, Ridley caught 63 passes for 967 yards and five TDs. He was a home run threat every time he touched the ball.
Alabama’s second-leading WR in 2017 was freshman Jerry Jeudy, catching 14 passes for 264 yards and two TDs. Fellow freshman Henry Ruggs III caught 12 passes for 229 yards and six TDs. Yes, Alabama’s cupboard is stacked full of talent at the receiver position, and with the emergence of freshman QB Tua Tagovailoa, the ball will likely be spread out more in the passing game, assuming he’s the guy moving forward at the position.
Ridley confirmed the report via Twitter.
