There’s a lot of competition when it comes to “getting your man” in college football. That’s why colleges turn to outside help to make sure they do.

According to CBS Sports’ Jon Solomon, the average cost per search firm among the 11 universities that shared documents was $70,000.

Three SEC schools were among the 11, including Missouri with the 3rd-highest total cost ($84,721), South Carolina with the 4th-highest ($80,000) and Georgia with the 10th-highest ($42,175).

Of course, those firms guided those programs in the hiring of Barry Odom, Will Muschamp and Kirby Smart, respectively. Central Florida had the highest of all the schools with a total cost of $120,000 to land Scott Frost.

Solomon’s story reveals that 16 of the 28 schools with a job opening after the 2015 season reported using a search firm.

You can read the full story here as it provides lots of details on why Georgia and South Carolina, in particular, used search firms, the criticisms of the search firms as well as info on the schools that didn’t use them.
