Auburn will head to Tampa Bay to play Big Ten surprise Minnesota in the Outback Bowl, according to multiple reports.
The first to report the news was Brett McMurphy of Stadium.
Meanwhile, Minnesota was one of the hottest teams in the country through the first half of the regular season. The Gophers started 9-0 before falling at Iowa, and finished the regular season 10-2 with a 38-17 loss to Wisconsin that decided the Big Ten West division.
Minnesota’s offense going up against Auburn’s incredible defense will be something to behold.
This will be a matchup between two teams that had early season College Football Playoff aspirations. Although they are not competing for national titles, their fans likely won’t complain too much about spending part of the holidays in Tampa Bay.
