Report: Butch Jones expected to hire Alabama staffer for offensive coordinator role

Published:
Recently, Arkansas State hired Butch Jones as its new head coach, ending his 3-season run as an Alabama staffer.
It was reported that Jones was considering fellow Alabama offensive analyst Major Applewhite for his offensive coordinator, but Applewhite ended up taking the same position at South Alabama.
Now, Jones is reportedly turning to another Alabama analyst — AJ Milwee. FootballScoop.com has the report:
After a two-year stint on Nick Saban’s Alabama staff as an offensive analyst, Milwee is once again on the cusp of becoming a play-caller at the Football Bowl Subdivision level.
Multiple sources tell FootballScoop that Milwee is on the verge of becoming Butch Jones’ offensive coordinator at Arkansas State.
Milwee spent time as Akron’s offensive coordinator earlier in his career before spending the past 2 seasons at Alabama.
How will he fare at Arkansas State? Jones continues to piece together his first Red Wolves’ staff.
