Earlier this year, the Florida Gators and coach Jim McElwain parted ways after a complete implosion from the team.

Since McElwain wasn’t officially fired, he won’t be receiving his full $12.9 million buyout, but he will still receive a hefty sum of money from the school.

According to reports, McElwain will receive $7.5 million from the Gators, with the first $3.75 million payment coming on Dec. 1:

With new coach Dan Mullen making $6 million a year, the Gators are really throwing a lot of money at football coaches, but if the team gets back on track next year, it will likely be money well spent.

The fan base is excited about the Mullen era in Gainesville, so the sooner they can turn the page from McElwain, the better it will be for all involved.

It will take a lot of money to officially pay off McElwain, but the Gators have their man in Mullen, so the future is now at Florida.
