On Monday morning, it was reported that Alabama staffer Butch Jones was emerging as a strong candidate for the Colorado State opening.
Now, it appears he is the top candidate, according to The Athletic’s Bruce Feldman.
Per Feldman, the Rams are focusing their sights on Jones, who is 84-54 as a head coach at Central Michigan, Cincinnati and Tennessee:

Jones has obviously had a lot of success as a Group of 5 head coach, so it makes sense that Colorado State would be interested.
Now, we’ll see if they can make it work. It sounds like the Rams want him, so Jones could be on the move soon.
