Former Alabama CB Saivion Smith was one of the eight underclassmen from the SEC to declare for the 2019 NFL Draft, but not be drafted. He’s the first early entrant from Alabama to not be drafted since Adrian Hubbard. Smith will still get a shot to make it in the league.
The Jacksonville Jaguars have reportedly agreed to terms with Smith. When reporting the story, NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport noted Smith’s battles with injuries, perhaps indicating that might have been why teams decided not to use a pick.
The Jaguars have not yet announced the signing on the team website or verified Twitter account. Smith has not been on active on Twitter since the start of the draft.
The former 5-star recruit and LSU transfer had been projected by many to go in the fourth or fifth round.
