Report: Former Alabama CB Scooby Carter makes transfer decision

Former Alabama cornerback Scooby Carter has reportedly made his transfer decision. According to Chris Hummer of 247Sports, Carter is planning to transfer to Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College with his sights set on an eventual return to Tuscaloosa.
“I talked to everybody yesterday,” Carter said, per Hummer. “They’re really supportive about everything. They talked to the coaches at Gulf Coast and were helping to get everything ready. Me and Coach (Nick) Saban were getting on the right page.
“If I go there and do everything I’m supposed to and all that, we’ll go from there.”
A former 4-star recruit out of Mansfield, Texas, Carter committed to Alabama on Dec. 8, 2018, and signed as part of the 2019 class. Last season, he appeared in 3 games for the Crimson Tide. Carter was suspended for the Mississippi State game due to missing class and entered the NCAA transfer portal shortly after. He withdrew from the portal on Jan. 16, 2020 but re-entered on Feb. 28.
In March, Carter was arrested in Tuscaloosa on a third-degree domestic violence charge. Per Hummer, court records show the charge has been dismissed.
Carter told 247Sports he hopes to play one season of JUCO football and return to Alabama with a clean slate to finish his college football career.
