Back in 2016, the Baylor Bears were caught up in a massive sexual assault scandal, costing coach Art Briles and others associated with the university their jobs.
However, even after being fired amid a massive scandal, Briles managed to score a big payday, according to IRS records.
Per The Dallas Morning News, Briles received $15.1 million after he was fired, and that amount has already been paid in full:
Former football coach Art Briles received $15.1 million from Baylor following his 2016 dismissal during a sexual assault scandal that engulfed his program and the university.
The dollar figures of the settlements surfaced in Baylor’s 990 filing to the IRS, required annually of non-profit organizations, filed this week and obtained by The Dallas Morning News. The settlements had been subject to non-disclosure agreements.
According to the report, the $15.1 million was less than half of the amount that remained on Briles’ long contract, but it is still a huge sum of money.
Briles hasn’t landed another coaching job since then, but he isn’t going to be hurting for money anytime soon.
