Former Florida K Caleb Sturgis will be looking for a new NFL team.
The Los Angeles Chargers are reportedly releasing the struggling kicker. On Sunday, the Chargers won, but Sturgis became the first kicker to miss a PAT and field goal in three consecutive games since 1979. That obviously doesn’t cut it in the pros.
Sturgis is in his sixth NFL season. He was originally drafted by the Miami Dolphins in the fifth round of the 2013 NFL Draft. After being released from the Dolphins, Sturgis signed with the Philadelphia Eagles in 2015. A hip injury kept him on injured reserve during the Eagles Super Bowl-winning 2017 season. In March, he signed a two-year deal the Chargers after beating out former Florida State K Roberto Aguayo.
Not a surprise but significant: Chargers are releasing kicker Caleb Sturgis, per source.
