Report: Former Kentucky LB Courtney Love taking off-field position on Wildcats staff

After one season as a defensive graduate assistant, former Kentucky LB Courtney Love is reportedly taking on a new role with the Wildcats staff.
According to Nick Roush of Kentucky Sports Radio, UK coach Mark Stoops revealed at Kentucky’s 2019 women’s clinic that Love is the team’s new Director of Player Development. The position was previously held by Freddie Maggard, who resigned on June 29.
In his tenure of a little over one year as Director of Player Development, Maggard introduced the “4 for 40” program. The idea was for players to treat their four years of undergrad to prepare themselves for the next 40 years of their lives. Love is sure to be a positive influence for Kentucky players off the field. In 2017, Love was awarded the Wuerffel Trophy, which honors college football’s top community servants.
On the field, Love played at Kentucky in 2016 and ’17, after sitting out the 2015 season following his transfer from Nebraska. Love logged 168 tackles, including 4.5 for loss and two sacks as the Cats middle linebacker and defensive captain.
