Report: Former Mississippi State player arrested, charged with murder

A shooting incident in Morton, Mississippi, on Saturday night that left one dead and one injured resulted in the arrest of a former Mississippi State defensive lineman.

Quay Evans, 24, was one of the men alleged to be the shooter. His brother, Samuel Mortez Evans, was also involved, according to witnesses.

According to MSNewsNow.com, Evans and his brother were arrested and charged with murder, attempted murder and aggravated assault in connection with the incident.

This isn’t the first time that Evans has been arrested on gun-related charges. Last summer, he was arrested following an incident outside a Starkville apartment that March, according to The Clarion-Ledger.

Evans, the No. 1 recruit from Mississippi in the class of 2012, played for the Bulldogs in 2012 and 2013, recording only 10 total tackles in 15 appearances. He transferred to West Georgia in 2014, but never played a game for his new school.
