Former Texas A&M coach Tom Wilson has passed away at the age of 72 after a long battle with cancer, according to multiple reports.

Wilson coached at Texas A&M from 1975-81, starting as an offensive coordinator before being promoted to head coach in 1978. He led the Aggies to a 21-19 (14-15 Southwest) record in four seasons, including wins in two bowl game appearances.
Wilson began his career as an assistant at Texas Tech in 1966, where he played quarterback form 1963-65. He spent six seasons with the Red Raiders during his initial run and two seasons as a coordinator from 1984-85. Wilson coached at Texas high schools Palestine (1986-’92) and Corsicana (1993-’99) for the remainder of his career before retiring.
