Another open Power 5 head coaching job has reportedly been filled.

FootballScoop is reporting that Utah State head coach Matt Wells has agreed to take the Texas Tech head coaching job. The 45-year-old Wells, a Columbia, S.C. native, has been at Utah State since 2011 when he coached quarterbacks and running backs. He became the head coach in 2013. In six seasons, he went 44-34.

This season, Utah State was a 10-2 team. Wells’ team was No. 14 in the Associated Press Top 25 before a loss to Mountain West rival Boise State.

Wells succeeds Kliff Kingsbury, who was fired after the Red Raiders went 5-7.
