It has been a rough weekend for Kentucky football.

The Wildcats squared off against Ole Miss on Saturday and let a late lead slip through their fingers. The Rebels scored a go-ahead touchdown with just seconds remaining and held on to win by a final score of 37-34.

It was a rough game for Kentucky as the Wildcats were hoping to improve to 7-2.  Instead, they fell to 6-3 and will have to regroup for a trip to Vanderbilt.

A rough weekend was made worse Sunday evening when it was reported that Wildcats P Matt Panton was arrested Saturday night following the loss.

Jen Smith with The Lexington Herald-Leader shared the news:

Kentucky punter Matt Panton was arrested and charged with public intoxication on Saturday night after the loss to Ole Miss.

Panton, a graduate transfer from Columbia University originally from Melbourne, Australia, was booked into the Lexington jail after 1:30 a.m. Sunday, according to jail records.

Smith also reported that a team spokesman shared that the situation would be addressed on Monday.

Panton has had a good year while serving as the team’s primary punter. He has 48 punts with an average yards per punt of 42.8.
