Kentucky will be down a starting linebacker in the Citrus Bowl.
Derek Terry of Cats Pause is reporting that Wildcats LB Jordan Jones has been ruled ineligible for the Citrus Bowl against Penn State. With Jones being a senior, this means his UK football career is complete. A UK spokesperson did not provide details to Terry on the matter citing Jones’ privacy rights.
A starter in all 12 games this season, Jones recorded 68 total tackles, including 5.5 for loss and 1.5 sacks.
Kentucky earned a Citrus Bowl bid after going 9-3 in the regular season. Jones helped the Kentucky defense finish fourth in the SEC in total defense, allowing 332.2 yards per game. The Wildcats were also No. 3 in the conference in scoring defense, giving up only 16.3 points per game.
In rushing defense, UK was No. 8 in the SEC, allowing 150.83 yards per game. Penn State RB Miles Sanders, who has averaged just under six yards per carry for 1,223 yards on the season, has committed to playing in the Citrus Bowl. Sanders was fourth in the Big Ten in rushing.
