Report: Kentucky TE Justin Rigg suffers injury, out for remainder of spring practice
Spring practice just began this week in Lexington but already the team has lost a player for the remainder of the spring session.
Sophomore tight end Justin Rigg was hospitalized following practice Monday after experiencing abdomen and head pain according to Jennifer Smith of KentuckySports.com. The unexpected pain came as a result of lacerated spleen suffered in practice. Thankfully, Kentucky caught the injury early and Rigg is expected to recover, although he will likely miss the remainder of spring football.
Kentucky head coach Mark Stoops offered up this comment to Smith regarding Rigg:
“At this time everything is very positive. All the tests last night and this morning, everything is very positive, very good. He should have a full recovery, but more than likely – or he will be out this entire spring.”
Rigg was a three-star signee out of Ohio in Kentucky’s 2016 recruiting class. He redshirted in 2016 and appeared in one game last season for the Wildcats.
