In the wake of three Baton Rouge police officers being gunned down over the weekend, LSU head coach Les Miles met with local police Tuesday.
According to an AP report, Miles had an unannounced, private meeting with both the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office and the Baton Rouge Police. Two of the slain officers worked for the Parish Sheriff’s Office, while one worked for the Baton Rouge Police.
LSU spokesman Michael Bonnette confirmed the meetings did in fact take place and expressed Miles’ ‘appreciation for the courage shown’ for the officers who put their lives at risk protecting the local community.
Miles was scheduled to travel to ESPN headquarters this week but cancelled his travel plans after the shootings occurred. This week, the LSU coach spoke of his interactions with one of the slain officers, while the school lit Tiger Stadium up in blue to honor the fallen police from the weekend’s shooting.
