In what has been an offseason of turnover in Tuscaloosa, it appears another longtime Nick Saban confidant is leaving the Alabama football program.

Joe Pendry may not be a name every Alabama fan is familiar with but he was Saban’s first offensive line coach in Tuscaloosa and has remained as a member of the program in an off-the-field capacity since his 2011 retirement from coaching. A native of West Virginia, Pendry spent 19 years coaching in the NFL before joining Saban’s Alabama staff. His official title over the last few years was special adviser and NFL liaison for Alabama.

According to Matt Zenitz of AL.com, Pendry is retiring from his position. This move leaves Saban with one less trusted voice in his program moving forward.
