The new NFL season officially begins on March 14, which is when teams can start signing free agents.

This week, we’re seeing a few surprising players enter the free agency ranks, as teams decide not to re-sign them or use the franchise tag on them.

On Tuesday, the Los Angeles Rams released LB Mark Barron, a former Alabama defender, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter:

Barron started his NFL career with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers before going to the then-St. Louis Rams in 2014.

Barron has 624 total tackles, eight interceptions and five forced fumbles in his career. Back in college, he won two titles with the Crimson Tide (2009 and 2011).
