FootballScoop.com is hearing that LSU analyst Chevis Jackson will become the defensive backs coach at Ball State.

LSU hired Jackson, a former Tigers cornerback, last spring as an analyst, an off-field position. Jackson got into coaching after a four-year NFL career.

The Atlanta Falcons originally drafted Jackson in the third round of the 2008 NFL Draft, months after the cornerback helped LSU win the 2007 BCS Championship. After being released by the Falcons in 2010, Jackson spent time with the Jacksonville Jaguars, New England Patriots, Denver Broncos and Carolina Panthers.

Folloing his NFL career, Jackson returned to his hometown of Mobile, Ala. to join South Alabama as a graduate assistant.
