The Miami Hurricanes are gearing up for their season opener against Florida on Saturday night, but that job just got tougher.

That’s because it was reported that a starting Miami cornerback would be suspended for the Week 0 matchup with the Gators.

Per a report from Hurricanes Updates on Twitter, starting CB DJ Ivey has been suspended:

That’s a tough loss against a Florida team that returns QB Feleipe Franks and a talented receiving corps featuring Van Jefferson, Tyrie Cleveland and others.

Last year, Ivey recorded 3 total tackles as a true freshman. However, he had seemingly earned a starting job this fall, so this is a big loss for Manny Diaz’s defense.
