Report: Mike Leach being sued by recently dismissed Washington State player
The ethics of college football’s pirate is being called into question by one of his former players.
While Mike Leach is an interesting character to be sure, he doesn’t put up with his players stealing, hitting women or doing drugs. He believes so strongly against those things that he allegedly calls them the “three deadly sins” of his program — meaning that’s how a player finds himself dismissed from the program.
According to Evan Ellis of Pullman Radio, Leach is being sued by one of his former players, Zaire Webb, for his inconsistency when it comes to punishing his players for their “deadly sins.” In his suit against Leach, Webb points out several instances of Washington State players breaking the “deadly sins” but remaining on the roster.
Webb and teammate Anthony White Jr. were dismissed from the Washington State program last fall after being charged misdemeanor 3rd-degree theft after attempting to shoplift from a Wal-Mart.
What will come of this lawsuit remains to be seen but it’s hard to imagine Webb winning the right to rejoin the WSU roster after suing his head coach. Considering Webb only had one career tackle for the Cougars before being dismissed, it’s unlikely he can show Leach stunted his potential professional career by dismissing him from the program.
