Dan Mullen has made a decision regarding his starting quarterback and it looks like redshirt sophomore Nick Fitzgerald will be the first player to make a start under center in Starkville post Dak Prescott.

This according to Hail State digital media reporter Bob Carskadon:

In limited action last season, Fitzgerald completed 11 of 14 passes for 235 yards and three touchdowns. Of the two quarterbacks scheduled to play early for MSU, Fitzgerald is considered the better dual-threat option on the ground. Last season, Fitzgerald added 127 rushing yards and three scores to go along with his passing numbers.

Williams has not played in a game since the 2014 season, however he has 434 passing yards, three touchdowns in addition to 175 yards and a score on the ground in his career for the Bulldogs.

Mississippi State kicks off the season at home against South Alabama at 11 a.m. CT.
