Apparently, the nation’s top recruit hasn’t ruled out playing in the SEC quite yet.

A previous report from Brian Dohn of Scout.com stated that five-star defensive tackle Rashan Gary, the No. 1 recruit in the Class of 2016, is down to Michigan and Clemson, but Gary’s mom told SEC Country that Auburn isn’t out of the picture.

“Who said it was?” Coney said. “I said we really enjoyed our Clemson visit. Does that mean anything more than that?”

The 6-foot-5, 293-pound prospect out of Paramus, N.J., took his official visit to Auburn back on Nov. 28. He’s scheduled to announce his decision at 1 p.m. ET on ESPN2 on National Signing Day.

The SEC has been home to each of the past six No. 1 overall recruits dating back to the Class of 2010, a run that started after Matt Barkley chose USC in 2009.
