Ole Miss and Baylor were in talks to open the 2020 season with a matchup, and now they’ve taken the next step to make it happen.
A source told ESPN’s Brett McMurphy that the Rebels and Bears have verbally agreed to the game, which would be played at Houston’s NRG Stadium.

It was reported back in late January that Ole Miss athletic director Ross Bjork told SEC Country that the schools were trying to iron out the game.
The game would potentially mark just the second meeting between the schools with the other coming in 1975. Baylor topped Ole Miss 20-10 in that contest during the Ken Cooper era.
The Rebels only have one more mandatory non-conference Power 5 game to be scheduled from now through the 2024 season, and that’s in 2018. Ole Miss has Florida State for 2016, a home-and-home with California for 2017 and 2019, Georgia Tech for 2021-22 and Wake Forest for 2023-24.
