Like every year, Mississippi State has had this next game circled for a while. The Egg Bowl is this Saturday, as Ole Miss hosts Mississippi State in the historic rivalry matchup.

The Bulldogs, however, will be without several players due to a myriad of reasons.

Yahoo Sports’ Pete Thamel reports that Mississippi State will have only 47 scholarship players available on Saturday. While under the SEC threshold of 53 (which gives MSU the option to not play the game), this is actually an improvement from last week’s game at Georgia, where State only brought 43 scholarship players.

The Bulldogs actually played fairly well last week despite the low numbers, falling to Georgia 31-24. They get a handful of players back this week, can Mike Leach win his first-ever Egg Bowl and SEC clash with Lane Kiffin?
