The 2020-21 college basketball season isn’t far away, as it’s scheduled to begin Nov. 25. But there’s still some business to take care of before then.

The SEC still needs to set its conference schedule for the upcoming campaign, which has been slightly pushed back due to the COVID-19 pandemic. But it appears the slate will be coming soon, as Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports reported on Thursday that the conference is expected to release its schedule on Friday.

There will be potential for changes to the schedule during the season, though, as has been the case throughout the sports world due to the pandemic. So these dates won’t be set in stone. But it will give us an idea of when games should take place and how the season should go, if everything operates according to plan.

The NCAA was unable to complete the 2019-20 season due to the pandemic, which included many conference tournaments getting canceled that were still taking place when things were shut down in March. That included the SEC Tournament, as only the first round (composed of two games) was completed.

The SEC isn’t the only conference that hasn’t set its schedule for the upcoming season. In fact, entering Thursday, only the Big 12, Pac-12, Horizon League and Summit League had released their schedules.

Selection Sunday for the NCAA Tournament is scheduled for March 14, with March Madness officially getting underway on March 16. It will culminate with the national championship game on April 5.
