JUCO DB Steven Montac of Coffeyville Community College in Kansas was on the South Carolina campus on Tuesday for a visit with coach Will Muschamp and his staff.

The Georgia native hasn’t made anything official yet, but it sounds like he’s leaning toward heading to Columbia to play for the Gamecocks.

According to The State, Montac could join the Gamecocks sooner rather than later:

“You guys will just have to see Aug. 1 when practice starts,” Montac said, an indication, perhaps, that Montac expects to be with the Gamecocks then, though he also said he’s still considering Boise State and Missouri.

According to 247Sports, Montac is the No. 3 JUCO safety in the 2016 class. The 5-foot-11, 190-pound defensive back has three years of eligibility remaining.
