The South Carolina Gamecocks put out a statement Thursday morning saying that wide receiver Randrecous Davis is currently not on the team.

Davis is a sixth-year receiver for the Gamecocks, but he’s taking some time away from the program.

In a statement given to Gamecock Central, head coach Shane Beamer said:

“Dreak is not with the team right now,” Beamer said. “As everyone knows, he’s battled numerous injuries during his time here at South Carolina. He’s taking some time right now to focus on his health and his future.”

Davis, who was a 4-star recruit coming out of high school in 2016, has played 19 games in his career with the Gamecocks and has a total of 123 yards and 1 touchdown.

Davis’s time with the Gamecocks has been littered with injuries and he hasn’t played in 2 years. Davis suffered an ankle sprain in 2019 and he opted out of the season last year because of a stress fracture.

He was expected to come back for his senior season and contribute to this year’s team.
