The Tennessee coaching search has reached embarrassing levels, and AD John Currie has come under fire for the failure to land Butch Jones’s replacement.

On Friday morning, Currie met with Tennessee chancellor Beverly Davenport, and the results of the meeting weren’t good for the embattled athletic director.

According to WVLT reporter Chynna Greene, Currie was fired by the school, marking an end to his brief eight-month tenure in Knoxville:

What this means for the Vols’ coaching search is unclear, but the school now has no football coach and no athletic director.
