Report: Tennessee officially offers OC job to Big 12 assistant

The Tennessee Volunteers still haven’t filled their offensive coordinator position, but it’s possible they’re simply waiting for their top candidate to finish his season.
Reports have linked Oklahoma State OC Mike Yurcich to the job, and it appears he now has an official offer from the Vols as the Cowboys prepare for Monday’s Liberty Bowl matchup vs. Missouri.
Per a report from 247Sports, Yurcich wouldn’t confirm or deny the Tennessee rumors, but has reportedly been offered the job:
“You guys have to do your job, but I have a job to do and it is to get this team ready for Missouri in the Liberty Bowl,” Yurcich said when asked about the vacancy at offensive coordinator on the other side of this state at Tennessee, a job he has been rumored to be a prime candidate for. “It’s that particular time of year where speculation occurs and it has occurred several years in a row. The only thing is I would hate to take any time away from our purpose which is to send these seniors out as winners this season.”
But Go Pokes can now officially report that Mike Yurcich has been offered the Offensive Coordinator position at Tennessee and at a substantial bump in pay than what he’s currently making at Oklahoma State.
Yurcich has also been linked to the Ohio State OC position, but it’s possible that current co-OC Kevin Wilson will take on that role after fellow co-OC Ryan Day’s promotion to head coach.
We’ll see what happens, but the Vols could soon have their man.
