While the SEC landed a conference-record eight schools in the 2018 NCAA Tournament, Georgia was obviously not among the selections. The Bulldogs lack of inclusion is a big reason why the school decided to move on from coach Mark Fox following UGA’s loss to Kentucky in the SEC Tournament.
Based on the latest news from Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports, Georgia is working very quickly to improve its basketball program. While it’s not a done deal at this point, according to Rothstein, Georgia has offered its job to former Ohio State coach Thad Matta.
During his time in Columbus, Matta racked up an impressive 337-123 record, which included nine NCAA Tournament appearances and five trips to the Sweet Sixteen or further in the big dance. Matta led the Buckeyes to two Final Four appearances during that span.
