The story of Tre Mason is one that is well-known by Auburn fans. After an outstanding career with the Tigers, Mason ended up AWOL with the Rams ahead of the 2016 season.
The Rams cut him in 2017, but now he’s working out and is looking to get back into the league.
According to AL.com, Mason’s inner circle has been talking with NFL teams, saying the star running back is doing much better mentally:
People close to Tre Mason have recently been in contact with NFL teams, telling them that the former SEC Offensive Player of the Year is ready to return to football following a two-year hiatus, according to sources. The pitch has been that Mason is in a much better place mentally than he was when he had multiple run-ins with police in 2016.
Mason had run-ins with the law in 2016 and 2017, but that seems to be behind him now.
However, he faces an uphill battle if he wants to return to the NFL. He’s only 24, though, so he’s still young. Perhaps he could follow Trent Richardson to the CFL with the hopes of getting back to the NFL at some point.
