Troubled Buffalo Bills (and former Alabama) defensive tackle Marcell Dareus was sent home for a violation of team rules before Saturday’s preseason game against the Ravens, according to multiple reports.

Dareus, 27, has experienced several injuries this preseason, most recently a hip injury. The specific violation of team rules was not immediately known before kickoff.

Dareus was the third-overall pick in the 2011 NFL Draft after playing three seasons at Alabama. During his time in Tuscaloosa, Dareus racked up 20 tackles for loss, including 11 sacks.

Several NFL and Bills reporters have speculated about Dareus’ future with the Bills, as he has not played up to the contract he signed in 2015, which was a six-year extension worth $108 million that included $65 million in guarantees and a $25 million signing bonus.

He missed the first four games of the 2016 season because he was suspended for violating the league’s substance abuse policy.
