Reports: Kentucky agrees to 2-for-1 series with MAC school

The latest trend in college football scheduling is Power 5 schools agreeing to deals with schools in lesser conferences — and going on the road to close the deal.

Kentucky is the most recent example. The Wildcats reportedly agreed to a deal with Toledo, which just so happens to be its season-opening opponent this season, on a 2-for-1 deal to play the Rockets in 2025, 2027 and 2028, according to multiple reports, including FBSchedules.com. The middle game will be played at Toledo, while the other two are scheduled to be played in Lexington.

This year’s meeting is the first between the schools.

The Toledo opener for Kentucky will be the first glimpse at the program since the Wildcats won 10 games for the first time since 1977. Mark Stoops is in his seventh season as coach.

Kentucky and Toledo schedule three-game football series:

Aug. 30, 2025 – at Kentucky
Sept. 4, 2027 – at Toledo
Sept. 2, 2028 – at Kentucky
