Details are starting to come together regarding a Friday accident that involved Alabama running back Trey Sanders.
According to WMBB-TV’s Courtney Mims, the accident occurred in the morning hours as Sanders was driving with his older brother, Umstead, a Jacksonville State linebacker who transferred from Florida in February. They were then struck at an intersection in Clarksville, Florida, but fortunately, the injuries were not life-threatening. However, the younger Sanders was airlifted to nearby Bay Medical Center in Panama City for further evaluation.
Sanders is from Port St. Joe, which is located 50 minutes down the coast from Panama City. He was in the area during Alabama’s bye week, as the Crimson Tide are off until Nov. 14.

The news comes less than a week after one of the SEC’s defensive stars was involved in an accident of his own: Georgia safety Richard LeCounte III was driving a dirt bike near Athens after returning from the Bulldogs’ game against Kentucky on Saturday when he struck a vehicle turning into a gas station. LeCounte was transported to a local hospital where he was treated for a concussion and injuries to his shoulder and rib.
