JT Daniels was set for a big season coming off a season where he was just the second true freshman opening day starter in Southern Cal’s history.
But the sophomore suffered a serious knee injury in the win over Fresno State.
According to Reign of Troy, coach Clay Helton is expected to confirm the worst during his weekly media conference call on Sunday night — a torn ACL and other knee damage.
Despite only playing a half, Daniels was 25-for-34 passing for 215 yards with a touchdown and an interception. Daniels was hurt on a Fresno blitz with 27 seconds left in the first half. He reportedly came back to the sideline with a brace on his right knee for the second half.
Southern Cal now turns to freshman Kedon Slovis, who was the surprise pick as the No. 2 quarterback coming out of the preseason. He was 6-for-8 passing in relief of Daniels for 57 yards and a TD.
The Trojans play Stanford this week.
BREAKING: An MRI revealed JT Daniels tore his ACL and meniscus last night, sources close to the situation say. He will miss the remainder of the season.
