National Signing Day didn’t get off to a great start for Alabama.
Chris Kirschner reports that 4-star OLB Vernon Jackson decommitted from Alabama late Tuesday night, and he won’t sign with the Tide on National Signing Day. Jackson, from Boling, Texas, had been committed to Alabama since September, but things have changed leading up to National Signing Day.
Jackson, listed at 6-foot-3 and 240 pounds, has visited multiple schools in the last few weeks, including Texas A&M last weekend. He’s ranked as the nation’s No. 21 overall athlete and the state of Texas’ No. 48 overall prospect, according to 247Sports Composite Rankings. He’s projected to play DE or OLB in college.
With Jackson’s decommitment, that leaves the Tide with three players committed on National Signing Day: 4-star LB Quay Walker, 4-star DT Bobby Brown and 3-star TE Michael Parker. Walker is one who could potentially sign elsewhere, too.
