You have to hand it to Rich Rodriguez for this one, it’s quite the classy gesture.
Rodriguez just welcomed Kevin Sumlin to Arizona and congratulated him on taking over his old job.
After losing his job at Arizona following accusations of workplace misconduct, reports indicate Rodriguez is set to be replaced by former Texas A&M. It should be noted that the accusations against Rodriguez are just that and an internal investigation by the school did not conclude there was reason to fire the coach for cause — thus Arizona had to pay Rodriguez the money owed to him contractually.
Rodriguez even gives a shout-out to his former Arizona players in his message to Sumlin. Many people would have taken the opposite approach given the circumstances but it’s nice to see Rodriguez go this route here.
