Richard LeCounte had a strong showing in his NFL debut.
The former Georgia defensive back’s box score shows 2 tackles, 2 passes defended, a sack and an interception in Cleveland’s win over Jacksonville.
LeCounte’s pass breakup that preceded the interception might have been his best play of the night. Marcus Harvey of Around The Block tweeted videos of LeCounte’s highlight plays in pass coverage:
Richard LeCounte III did it again. Making plays. This one stood out because for the entirety of last season, the Browns didn’t have a safety with range to cover the sideline from the MOF. This could be a game changer, opens up new levels of the Joe Woods Defense.#Browns pic.twitter.com/08GlNC4zD9

It’s just preseason, but plays like those will have many Browns fans feeling like the team got a steal in the fifth round of the NFL Draft.
