Rick Barnes and Tennessee dismantled Thad Matta’s Butler squad, 71-45 Wednesday night to move on to the semifinal round of the Battle 4 Atlantis early-season tournament.

And the Vols did it without the services of their best player. Josiah-Jordan James missed Tennessee’s win over Butler with knee soreness.

Barnes spoke postgame and said that James is day-to-day moving forward.

The Vols have struggled on offense so far this season, a truth that was present in the first half of Tennessee’s win over the Bulldogs. Tennessee picked it up in the second half, exploding for the nearly 30-point win.

Tennessee takes on USC at 1:30 Thursday following its first-round win.
